History
Chambers of Commerce are business networks/advocacy groups. Their primary goal is to improve the business climate in an area through business networking and lobbying.
The first Chambers of Commerce were founded in 1599 in continental Europe. The world’s oldest English-speaking Chamber of Commerce is that of Glasgow, Scotland set up in 1783. The first Chamber in North America was founded in Halifax in 1750. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce was established in 1929. The Caroline & District Chamber of Commerce was incorporated in 1987.
